Cinnamon is a teeny café on historic Front Street in the heart of the downtown of the small city of Penticton, British Columbia. Canada! We’re offering up interesting twists on wraps and sandwiches as well as patisserie, and we try to have something new going on much of the time. The menu is seasonal, and our focus is on local, organic, and sustainable food choices and practises.
‘Local’ is not about simply purchasing a bit of close-grown produce, but about searching out suppliers and purveyors of ingredients that showcase the beautiful food the Okanagan can offer. It’s about pride of place, about human scale, and doing business in a different way. We prefer local and organic, but we prioritize locally grown over organic agribusiness produce. Perhaps that ties in to sustainability, although it’s a safe bet that ‘sustainable’ is hard to measure. We choose our food carefully, and look at every aspect of the business to minimize our footprint. We’ll be writing more about all of these things!
The soul of the enterprise is a more satisfying way of doing business, easier on the environment, attuned to the needs of people, not ‘customers’, and managing for the long term good rather than short-term earnings. If you’re one of those who doesn’t believe business can have a soul, you likely won’t be interested. For the rest of you, we’d be pleased if you’d like to follow our journey and help us along the way.

Reblogged this on Me, and my imaginary friend and commented:
I haven’t been around much on my blog, but I’ve been busy!
Yes, Vivian, I, too have been quite busy and have languished on WordPress for awhile – simply posting stuff I wrote years ago. Don’t worry – live your life! That’s what it’s for, I’m pretty danged certain!
Aaaw thanks for coming by, Bela! It’s been really difficult adjusting to a life without daily writing, so I have simply had to make time for it. Who knows what drives us to write? – but in my case at least, driven is the right word. I hope you are well
What a lovely and inviting piece. Your content invites success.
Those are kind words, Mary…thank you. I think I must have already succeeded, in some measure, for I am loving the creativity and joy in my work.

Thanks, Al & Sara! Hope you are coming for lunch soon
Hi Vivian,
I loved these parting words of yours, and I quote, “The soul of the enterprise is a more satisfying way of doing business, easier on the environment, attuned to the needs of people, not ‘customers’, and managing for the long term good rather than short-term earnings.” Do you realise that in this one sentence you have encapsulated the recipe of a better tomorrow?
What could you do to spread the word and motivate others to think likewise?
Shakti
Thanks for coming by, Shakti. This is my small effort towards spreading the word…
